The ProAqua hot tub filter PA4949 has a closed top with a handle and course female threads on the bottom referenced as 1-1/2 inch. This filter is also a compatible replacement for the Pleatco PWW50L, Unicel 4CH-949 and Filbur FC-0172 spa filters.

Please note: Unicel and Pleatco brands of this filter use threads on the bottom that are inside a raised hole. Magnum Filters have developed a new design for the bottom made with stronger ABS plastic, which leads to a more rigid filter and requires less threads to seat properly. The new ABS plastic ends are designed to last longer under the harsh conditions of spa water and though it looks a bit different is cross compatible with the older style threaded PWW50L and 4CH-949 filters.
